Mark center stage for the officiate. Have the couple stand back to back before the officiate and then take two paces forward (to the officiate's left and right). Mark those locations. Officiate will also need a large (but not sharp) knife or short sword. The ceremony:
Walk in music can play as the Officiate and couple walks in. I recommend "Hill of the Skull" by Joe Satriani from the album "Surfing with the Alien." (1987, Relativity Records) The track is 100 seconds long and those approaching the stage should not take their time in the exaggeratedly slow pace of a Human wedding. Delay leaving for the stage in such a way that you can walk with purpose and arrive at the stage at the end of the music.
The Officiate stands at center stage. The couple stands facing away from each other four paces apart. (as previously marked).
Officiate: | Hovmey So'Ha' bIngDaq Qam SuvwI' | The warrior stands beneath the naked stars. |
Officiate: | poSDaq jaghpu' | Enemies to the left, |
nIHDaq jaghpu' | Enemies to the right,
Dat chaHtaH | they are everywhere.
Officiate: | SuvtaH SuvwI' | The warrior fights continuously. |
batlh Suv | He fights with honor.
nIteb Suv | He fights alone.
SuvlaHchu' 'ach Heghbej | He can fight perfectly but he will certainly die
Officiate: | vaj mamuvchuq | thus, we join one another |
cha' moj wa' | one becomes two
tuq moj cha' | two becomes a household
mangghom moj tuqmey | houses become armies
wo' chen mangghommey | armies build the empire
Officiate: | *groom's name*, bISawrup'a'? | *groom's name*, do you marry her? |
Groom: | HIja' | Yes. |
Officiate: | *bride's name*, bInayrup'a'? | *bride's name*, do you marry him? |
Bride: | HIja' | Yes. |
The Couple takes two steps backwards to stand back to back. The officiate draws a dagger which he holds above their heads. The couple reaches up with their right hands and grasp the blade palm down. The couple turns to the left to face each other. The officiate lowers the blade to waist level, the couple's hands still atop the blade. The officiate places his hand on top of the couple's hands.
Officiate: | DaHjaj mobHa' tlhIH. | Today, you are un-alone. |
DaHjaj tagh wo' | Today the Empire begins.
The officiate withdraws the blade, leaving the couple holding hands.
Officiate: | pItlh. | Finished. |
The couple kisses or other affectionate behavior appropriate in public, and while doing that, the officiate states in a loud voice:
Officiate: | yIn. | Life. |
batlh. | Honor. | |
Qapla' | Success. | |
For better crowd effect, eliminate yIn and batlh. Just yell Qapla'.
